We have an indefinite fundraising licence issued by the Finnish Police Administration. RA/2024/1092 is valid for the whole of Finland except for Åland!
You can support us with donations either via mobilepay short number 77225 or directly to the association’s fundraising bank account:

The fundraising funds are used to:
- Supplies for the animals in the animal shelter (such as bedding, hay, fodder, minerals, supplements, feeding and drinking troughs, heat lamps and hotplates)
- for the renovation and extension of pens, premises, enclosures and enclosures
- Construction of weather shelters and haylofts for pastures/enclosures
- Where necessary, the creation of new facilities for shelter animals that arrive at the shelter in need of shelter and assistance (e.g. a separate rooster house for homeless roosters).
- the necessary veterinary, medical and other care costs for the animals in the shelter and the purchase of equipment and supplies for the animals.

VISITS ONLY BY APPOINTMENT! Visits must always be agreed directly with the farm managers in advance.
We expect visitors to show respect for all animals and for the principles of the South Kangaroo Shelter. We also hope that visitors will respect the fact that the farm is private land and primarily a home.
The shelter operates on the animals’ terms, and we expect the same from visitors. We expect calm behaviour, as animals may be frightened by running or loud noises.
Guided tours of the enclosures and animal facilities are provided. Animals may be stroked and scratched in peace if they approach on their own initiative. It is possible that you may not be able to see all the animals in the shelter during the tour. Some animals may be hidden and left alone. Animals may not be fed without permission.
Animals may be photographed. When adding material to social media, remember to include an animal shelter account in the post.
Staying and visiting the shelter is at your own risk. The South Island Animal Shelter does not have insurance for visitors and we are not liable for any damages. Always follow the instructions given by the staff.
Dogs and other personal animals should be left at home. Dogs cannot be taken along and must not be left in the car, especially on warm days!
Dogs on the farm are not animals of the Society; Dogs are adopted as adults from home/rescue, please do not approach dogs without the owners’ permission.
Be prepared with weather-appropriate clothing. On rainy days, the yard can be muddy and wet, and shoes and clothing may get dirty. Because of the risk of disease, we ask that you only come in shoes that you have not worn on animal farms or livestock yards (for example, homesteaders come in clean shoes; we are part of a salmonella self-monitoring program and test once a year).
There are no toilets for visitors at the animal shelter. You can arrive in the yard by car.
If you want to bring something for the animals, please ask in advance.
